Brushing Teeth Fiasco. A Blessing?
NOW is a different story. I literally have to chase him around the house and bribe him to brush his teeth. So we are obviously still using the baby toothpaste which is "safe" to swallow.
Today I am thinking it's a blessing. Why? Because he isn't using any water, so he isn't wasting any water!
That is one thing I can say I have done for years. It's always made sense that you should turn the water off while brushing. So if you haven't thought of it yet, it's one of the easiest ways to start your path to being green!
On a side note...I have heard that Burts Bees is the only carrier of good toothpaste free of the harsh chemicals that all the rest have. Hopefully we will have some one day!

Paper Towel Addiction
Over the years I moved on to different methods, but there came a time when I really believe I was addicted to paper towels. (Not eating them! Just using them, a lot.) Until about eight months ago I would literally use a roll or more per day... to dry dishes, my hands, clean spills (with my clumsy self and a two-year-old there were a lot of them).
I finally decided that the expense was too great so when we moved in November I put a hook up for a hand towel and have been 99% paper towel free ever since. I use the occasional paper towel for cleaning mirrors, but that's about all. I hate to think of how many trees I "used up" drying my hands instead of just using a hand towel!
Celadon Road actually offers their own version of papers towels. I will have to get some to make my home 100% paper towel free!
I have also been looking into getting cloth napkins. We sparingly use regular paper ones with meals, but none at all would be great too! These kids versions are way cute!
Why not make it a goal to at least use one less napkin or paper towel per day! An interesting quote I found "USE ONE LESS PAPER NAPKIN - During an average year, an American uses approximately 2,200 napkins—around six each day. If everyone in the U.S. used one less napkin a day, more than a billion pounds of napkins could be saved from landfills each year."

Raising "Green" Kids
I was very excited on Earth Day that all of the television programs he likes to watch had special episodes showing kids how to live more eco-friendly.
The one we watched was perfect! It was an episode of Super Why about conserving water. Yay for PBS! Now I have a great reference that he understands about why it's important not to waste water.
If you need help teaching your kids how to live more responsibly there are so many great options available! Not only these programs (which I'm sure you can find at least one that your child would enjoy), but Celadon Road offers numerous products to help kids learn everything they need to know about growing up green!
This book is a great example:
Think Green! Children's Book
"It’s Great to Grow Up Green Think Green! is a book written to inspire our youngest generation. Teaching children how to keep our earth clean and safe by thinking and acting green, the book includes an empty page for them to note how they will help the environment. More than that, it’s one of the first illustrated children’s book that is produced with eco-friendly materials!"
In honor of helping kids "Think Green," I will offer $2 off the purchase price of this book TODAY only!!!! Just email me to order.
